What did you miss last week? Scroll down to see pictures! It was another busy week supporting our Veterans and our East Dallas community! Thank you volunteers and thank you to the many who support this Post! A special thank you to the Sunday Brunch Volunteers! 81 breakfasts served in an hour and 45 minutes. AMAZING! Thank you to Susan S, Sandra S, Hal P, Kacey, Sam H, Allison H, TJ and Logan! Knocked it out of the park!
Tickets are on sale from your bartender for the Halloween Party Fundraiser! $10. Lots of great food (sign up sheet on back bulletin board by the kitchen…please sign up to bring food!), DJ Cruisin’ Al. Costume Contest with prizes and some fantastic Raffle packages. Raffle tickets are on sale NOW! Have you seen the raffle packages? Lists are available at the VFW canteen. Mavs tickets, gift cards, wine tasting & so much more! See Kelley or Kathi to buy tickets!
Mark your calendars: Halloween Party/Dance fundraiser on Friday, 10/24 (see above!) Dr. MRE Cook-Off on Saturday, 10/25. Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, 11/8. Adult Day Care (Martini Saturday) Fundraiser on Saturday, 11/15. Dance Through the Decades Saturday, 4/18. It’s football season! Come and watch the games here at the VFW!

Week 10/06-10/13: Here is your week!
Monday 10/06: Come out and play Darts on our supercool electronic dartboards! No matter your skill level, you are welcome! 7PM
Monday 10/06: Dinner! Taco Salad $10. 6:30. May start earlier if kitchen staff is ready early!
Tuesday 10/07: Join in a free art class. Art Expressions Workshops by No Limits Arts Theatre. 6pm-8pm. Please register so that the instructor will have enough supplies. Register each week here! All are welcome!
Tuesday, 10/07: High Staxx Poker will be hosting two games with VFW 6796 canteen gift cards as prizes. Play starts at 7:00pm. There are two games on Tuesdays. It’s a $10 tip per game for the dealer. This is not for cash prizes. Big tournament Sunday 10/12 (see below)
Tuesday, 10/07: Dinner: Chili Bar with all of the fixin’s! Tori and Shelley are the chefs and it will be AWESOME! 6:30 $10 Here is what happened last Tuesday…our Senior Vice and his wife celebrated Peter’s Birthday!
We are actively looking for volunteers for November Tuesday dinners. Contact Kelley or Sandra if you want to help! Grab a friend and team up in the kitchen to provide a Tuesday night dinner! It’s FUN! (Really, it is!)
Wednesday 10/08: Join us from 6pm-8pm for Wednesday drink specials with $3 wells, live music, and complimentary heavy appetizers on our VFW Commander Test Kitchen Night! Catch live music from local talent, Greg Hosterman! Every week is something new! YUM!
Wednesday 10/08: Halloween Fundraiser Meeting 6PM. Have any ideas? Bring ‘em! Buy your ticket NOW from your bartender!
Thursday 10/09: POST Meeting 7 PM
Thursday 10/09: Enduring Freedom remembered
Thursday 10/09: Amy is making her famous spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and dessert. $12. Serving at 6:30. YUM!
Thursday 10/09: Karaoke at 7 PM. Come out and sing your favorite songs!
Friday 10/10: VFW Friday Night Dinner: Mini meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans. Sales start at 6 (from your bartender) and dinner served at 6:30. If the kitchen is ready earlier than 6:30, we may start serving earlier. Our dinners are made with love! Below is a photo of a few good men who worked hard to make Steak Night last Friday a success!

Saturday 10/11: Week 7 College Football! It is Texas/OU Weekend! 2:30 PM. The Ohio State University plays U of Illinois at 11AM. Night game is #5 Texas A&M vs. Florida at 6PM. Football on ALL DAY LONG! Inside and Out! Come watch your game!
Sunday, 10/12: COWBOY BRUNCH! A new concept! Egg & Sausage casserole, potato casserole and homemade coffee cake a la Kathi (our personal pastry chef!) $10. 11 AM-1:30 PM. Poker players and Cowboy game watchers are welcome! (As is everyone else! ) All made with love! Calendar
Sunday, 10/12: Cowboys vs Panthers 12 noon kickoff! Football on ALL DAY!! Join us!
Sunday, 10/12: Lisa McGrath Poker Invitational. Check in at 1 PM. This is a no money tournament, High Staxx game. Great raffle prizes! Play starts at 2 PM. Potluck! Bring your favorite dish! Everyone is welcome!
Sunday, 10/12: Jam Session The Sunday Jam session from 3-7 pm. Local musicians and music lovers gather to make music in a group setting. Everyone is welcome! Thanks ZenBubba for bringing these incredible and talented musicians together!
