A special thank you to the Sunday (10/12) Cowboy Brunch Volunteers! 37 brunch orders just before and during the Cowboy game. Thanks to the Kitchen Team for making this happen and raising money for the Auxiliary! Kathi, Cory, TJ, Sandra, Stu… you are the dream team!
Tickets are on sale from your bartender for the Halloween Party Fundraiser! $10. Lots of great food (sign up sheet on back bulletin board by the kitchen…please sign up to bring food!), DJ Cruisin’ Al. Costume Contest with prizes and some fantastic Raffle packages. Raffle tickets are on sale NOW! Have you seen the raffle packages? Lists are available at the VFW canteen. Mavs tickets, gift cards, wine tasting for 20, Spa package & so much more! See Kelley or Kathi to buy tickets! $10 each or 12 for $100. This is a FUNdraiser for the Post! We need your help! Buy a ticket, come to the party! It is only $10 and worth every penny. Professional photographer, JPT, DJ, Food, Costume Contest (you don’t have to dress up but you can vote for your favorite costume!) It will be fun!
Mark your calendars: Halloween Party/Dance fundraiser on Friday, 10/24 (see above!) Dr. MRE Cook-Off on Saturday, 10/25. Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, 11/8. Adult Day Care (Martini Saturday) Fundraiser on Saturday, 11/15. Dance Through the Decades Saturday, 4/18. It’s football season! Come and watch the games here at the VFW!

We appreciate you! Remember, the public is always welcome here at our Post. We have our big Fall fundraiser 10/24. Raffle tickets for sale. Tickets to the event for sale. College & NFL Football every weekend! Inside and Out! You may have noticed some improvements around our VFW. Painting, new quartz counter, new TVs…more improvements to come! Stay tuned!
On Sunday, 10/12, the Lisa Groden McGrath Invitational Poker game was held. Congratulations to the winners! Kelly G. won the LGM Invitational in the Women’s Category. CL and Pat won the Men’s Satellite in points & seat respectively. Thank you to all who purchased raffle tickets, participated in and supported this Memorial event. Special thanks to Amy & CL for all of their hard work to get this organized and executed. These are High Staxx games. (no cash)

Monday, 10/13: Happy 250th birthday, U.S. Navy!
Monday, 10/13: Come out and play Darts! Our Dart League is awesome and no matter your skill level, you are welcome! 7PM
Monday, 10/13: Dinner! Sandra is making Lasagne, Salad, Garlic Bread $10. 6:30. It is going to be wonderful! May start earlier if kitchen staff is ready early!
Tuesday, 10/14: Join in a free art class. Art Expressions Workshops by No Limits Arts Theatre. 6pm-8pm. Please register so that the instructor will have enough supplies. Register each week here! Holiday Wreath Making. 10/21 and 10/28 will be Custom Sneakers w/Bling but you MUST register at the above link by 10/17!
Tuesday, 10/14: High Staxx Poker will be hosting two games with VFW 6796 canteen gift cards as prizes. Play starts at 7:00pm. There are two games on Tuesdays. It’s a $10 tip per game for the dealer. This is not for cash prizes.
Tuesday, 10/14: Dinner: Kathi, Cory & TJ are making those yummy Hawaiian Sandwiches (ham & cheese and turkey & cheese) with chips & cheesecake bars for dessert. You know how she is with this cheesecake…it will be delicious! 6:30 $10
We are actively looking for one more volunteer for November 25th Tuesday dinner. Contact Kelley or Sandra if you want to help! Grab a friend and team up in the kitchen to provide a Tuesday night dinner! It’s FUN! (Really, it is!) We will be booking December Tuesday dinners soon!
Wednesday, 10/15: Join us from 6pm-8pm for Wednesday drink specials with $3 wells, live music, and complimentary heavy appetizers on our VFW Commander Test Kitchen Night! Catch live music from local talent, Greg Hosterman! Every week is something new! Always great!
Commercial Interruption: Have you purchased your VFW Fundraiser 10/24 Halloween Ticket from the bartender? $10 in advance. $15 at the door.
Thursday, 10/16: COOTIE Meeting 7 PM
Thursday, 10/16: Amy is making a wonderful dinner, as always! $12. Serving at 6:30.
Thursday, 10/16: Karaoke at 7 PM. Come out and sing your favorite songs and hear some local talent with Ronnie Ray!
Friday, 10/17: VFW Fryday Night Dinner: It is Catfish and Shrimp Dinner! Dirty Rice or Fresh cut Fries, Hushpuppies and Cole Slaw! Sales start at 6 (from your bartender) and dinner served at 6:30. Dessert $4 extra! If the kitchen is ready earlier than 6:30, we may start serving earlier. Our dinners are made with love!
Saturday, 10/18: Week 8 College Football! 11:45 AM: #14 Oklahoma vs SC Gamecocks; #4 Texas A&M plays Arkansas at 2:30; #7 TX Tech vs AZ State at 3 PM; #21 Texas plays Kentucky at 6PM. Football on ALL DAY LONG! Inside and Out! Come watch your game! Don’t forget to buy your ticket to the Halloween Party/Dance fundraiser on 10/24!
Sunday, 10/19: Washington at Dallas 3:25 kickoff! Come and watch the noon games and stay for the Cowboys!
Sunday, 10/19: District Meeting-Irving Post 9AM
Sunday, 10/19: Jam Session The Sunday Jam session from 3-7 pm. Local musicians and music lovers gather to make music in a group setting. Everyone is welcome! Thanks ZenBubba for bringing these incredible and talented musicians together!
